Instituted on Australia Day 2004. Awarded to Australian Defence Force personnel assigned to Op Slipper in Afghanistan, & support operations in surrounding areas, from the beginning of operations on October 11, 2001 to the withdrawal of ADF forces on December 5, 2002.
