The 1939-1945 Star was awarded for 6 months operational services between 3 September 1939 and 2 September 1945, also for campaigns into Greece, Crete, Syria, Java, Sumatra, Malaya, Timor, Burma, Assam, and NW Frontier. Service ended by wounding or death also qualified. Applicable Clasp - 'Battle of Britain'. The colours of the ribbon represent the three forces, Navy, Army, Air Force. Approximately 203,000 were awarded to Australians.
