Instituted in 1908 by King Edward VII for 15 years service and good conduct by the men of the R.A.N.R. Prior to 1941 the ribbon was plain green changing to dark green with central and edge stripes of white. The medal was struck in silver. Replaced in 1975 by the National Medal.
