The United Nations (UN) Medal with Clasp ‘KOREA’ is automatically awarded to those members who recieved the Korea Medal for service between 1 July 1950 and 27 July 1953. Those who served in Korea from 18 July 1953 to 26 July 1954 recieved the United Nations Medal only, as did service personnel in adjacent areas like Japan and Okinawa operating under United Nations command or sent to support United Nations operations in Korea in the relevent period from 1950 to 1954.

The United Nations Korea Medal is a circular medal of bronze alloy. The obverse depicts the ‘World-in-a Wreath’ emblem of the United Nations and the reverse has the inscription: ‘FOR SERVICE IN DEFENCE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF THE CHARTER OF THE UNITED NATIONS’.

This ribbon has alternating stripes of United Nations blue and white. A clasp with the inscription ‘KOREA’ is worn on the medal riboon.

Approximately 18,000 were issued to Australians.
